Arts institutes are always looking for innovative ways to help raise funds to support their programs. For New Urban Arts, an arts mentoring program for high school students in Providence, Rhode Island, audio became the fundraising vehicle. We edited audio, recorded by students interviewing each other, into a 40-minute audio documentary that told the story of growing up in Providence, and dealing with the issues of sex, identity, parents, creativity and other challenges teenagers face.
